The opportunity
We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our London team, working with Product Managers, Developers, and other key stakeholders to deliver impactful product design that solves real problems for our customers and drives the industry forward.
You’ll come with enough experience and skill to deliver on all aspects of design yourself to start with, but you’ll be instrumental in rapidly building and shaping a design team over time to ensure we reach our goals.
Responsibilities
- Be a leader and champion of Product Design, mainly within the Product Team but also across the company as a whole.
- Get stuck into all practical aspects of design work as part of a collaborative Product Team of Developers and Product Managers.
- Work through user and business problems from start to finish - generating and interpreting insights then using them to inform new ideas that deliver real value.
- Sketch and prototype ideas to gauge viability, then design the detailed experience including all workflows, interactions and every aspect of the UX and UI.
- Work collaboratively and iteratively, incorporating research and feedback from users and the team.
- Work closely with engineers to build and deliver features and find compromises where necessary.
- Participate actively in product discovery activities.
- Effectively distribute design learnings and promote design thinking across the company as much as possible.
- Assist other departments (like Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Business) where they have needs around design.
- Assess and advocate for the necessary resources needed for design to ensure we achieve our goals and lead efforts around recruiting when needed.
Skills
- Experience designing modern, responsive web apps (not just websites or mobile-only apps).
- Substantial experience with complex B2B products, especially marketplaces.
- Comfortable playing their part in the entire product development process, from problem exploration to detailed UX and UI design.
- Ability to create both low- and high-fidelity mockups, prototypes and design delivery assets using e.g. Figma or comparable tools.
- Experience running and promoting user research sessions and effectively distributing insights across the company.
- Collaborating and engaging with other departments and external contractors around design where necessary - such as branding, marketing, sales materials, etc.
- Self-starter and great communicator.
- Used to extensive collaboration (particularly with engineers and PM) as well as owning and independently driving their parts of the process.
- Comfortable with the inevitable change, uncertainty and context switching that working within a growing company will bring.
- (Nice to have) Any experience hiring for design roles and advising on the ideal team structure as we grow would be great.
Portfolio
As part of our hiring process, we'd like to see a portfolio that shows your full design process - from the problems you were targeting through to the final outcomes, visuals and learnings.
Include the challenges you encountered along the way and how you dealt with them. Ideally show us examples most relevant to our product, and where your direct output most closely aligns with the skills and responsibilities we need for this role.
Benefits
- Be an early stakeholder in a post-Series A fast-growing tech start-up 🚀
- Amazing culture: work alongside a tight-knit group of highly-ambitious individuals and expect to take responsibility from day 1 🦸♀️🦸
- Exercise real influence within a flat hierarchy with open channels to management (CEO, Chief of Staff, CTO, Head of Product, etc.) 💪
- Competitive and performance-based salary & benefits 💰
- Awesome London office in Victoria with amazing perks – free beer, wine, and other drinks and snacks; regular events; dogs; showers and vanity rooms; cycle storage; and more) 😎
